Busy kitten season, like the rest of the animal kingdom, starts after the first rains — usually in September. Usually. But over the past year there seem to have been more and more cats abandoned, left to fend for themselves, and kittens being dumped. If you would like to adopt one of our kittens, please complete an application form.
How it works
- Send a mail to wecare@catfamilyfoundation.co.za or a WhatsApp message to enquire about the kitten/s you'd like to give a forever home.
- Kindly complete our online adoption application form (we'll also send it to you).
- Should the requirements be met, a meet-and-greet will be arranged with the foster mom.
- If the meeting is successful, a contract is drafted and a home check is done on delivery of your new kitten.
- All kittens are only homed at 8 weeks, once first vaccination and deworming have been done.
Some important notes
- We take considerable care homing all our kittens and ensuring they find their perfect forever families, so preference is given to homes closest to us in Randburg.
- Cats and dogs might not always be a good fit, regardless of opinions — that's why introductions and home checks have to be done.
- We consider the age of households. It's an unfortunate reality that cats are offloaded or surrendered when older persons can no longer care for them. Remember, cats can live up to 20 years.
- Immigration is a huge reality too. A kitten grows into a cat and should be part of your family. If you can't afford to take your pets with you when you immigrate, please don't get a kitten — you should know at least 4 years in advance if you have plans to leave the country.
